WINE will probably never happen. WINE tries to run programs using modified Windows APIs as native as possible on an x86 chip. If you have ever used Mac-On-Linux or even the classic environment in MacOS X then you should know what I mean. It is not emulation, but is not at full speed and not fully compatible. If WINE was ever ported they would have to add an emulation layer to translate the APIs to code the PowerPC chip could understand and by doing so it would decrease its speed significantly.
By default, Word inserts a cross-reference as a hyperlink that you can click to be taken directly to the cross-referenced item. You can create cross-references to items such as headings, footnotes, bookmarks, captions, and numbered paragraphs. For example, you can mention 'Figure 1' in your document and refer the reader to the figure's location elsewhere in the document.
Theoretically since this would be more at the system core level and no less of a Windows overhead than say an emulator like VirtualPC it would have the potential to be a bit faster than VPC. With some serious tinkering it could even be possible to make the Windows apps fully Aqua compatible (such as what OroborOSX does for XDarwin/X11 applications).
