What Causes File Issues In Quicken For Mac

The issue is not how to move Quicken 2007 from one computer to another. The issue is how to move a Quicken 2007 data file, etc. From one computer to another. Until Yosemite you were able to drag the package contents from one computer to another. Starting with Yosemite the Sharing & Permissions information is lost during the move using drag. I was waiting for El Capitan, hoping it would be fixed.

This is not a issue with Quicken 2007 but the Operating System. It appears Apple has implemented a scheme that transfers the Sharing & Permissions information for pre-selected package contents folders. Moneydance is one but Quicken 2007 is not. The only way to get the Sharing & Permissions information transferred is to copy/paste. Install ruby on rails for mac. Dragging the package folder does not work.

After further testing I have traced the problem to the Quotes file within the Quicken Package folder. If the Quicken 2007 package folder is copied from my MBP computer to a USB drive the Quotes file (1.7Mb) is moved correctly to the USB drive and when moved from the USB drive to my iMac it is still correctly moved. But if it dragged or even copied/paste from my MBP to my iMac, it is corrupted. That is, the 1.7Mb file is now just a 1 Mb file.

Copying just the 1.7 Mb file via dragging or copy/paste the file is still corrupted by the OS. The Quotes file may not be structured to what the OS is expecting. The test that is presented above is just moving a Quicken package content folder from one computer to another using the tools of the Mac OS. Moving it thru a network it fails, while moving it via a USB drive it works.
